How to Offset your Carbon Emission?

To offset your carbon emission by planting native trees, follow these steps:

1- calculate the carbon emissions caused by your travels using the calculator here.

2- Now that you know the number of tons of CO2 you need to offset, calculate the number of trees you need to plant in order to offset your carbon emission.

To do so, use the following formula: 1 tree fixes 0.25-0.5 tons of carbon (CO2). So 2-4 trees = 1 ton of carbon fixed.

(Learn mode about this formula by clicking here)

3– Now there are several possibilities to get planting:

Make your payment for the needed number of trees using our charity link here,

OR go directly to the Trees For Life page where you can make your trees donation here.

OR go directly to the Scientists Grove page that we have set up for scientists and add trees to it by clicking here. If you are not a scientist, it is also fine to add trees to that grove.

In all cases above, it is £6 per tree.

OR contribute directly to the carbon-offsetting programme from the Woodland Trust. Please follow the link here.

If you choose to contribute through us, then we will pass on your donation directly to Trees For Life to expand the Scientists’ Grove. Otherwise, cut the middle man! and contribute directly.

Finally, if you feel 2-4 trees per carbon emitted stretches your finances too much, please contribute less. Alternatively, if you have spare funds, please contribute more. What’s essential is to contribute something, whatever you can afford.
