Add Trees to the Scientists Grove

This is extremely simple. Please follow the sequence from step 1 to 3:

1- Calculate the carbon emissions caused by your travels using the calculator here. Once you’ve done that, please return to this page and go to step 2.

2- Now that you know the number of tonnes of CO2 you need to offset, calculate the number of trees you need to have planted in our Scientists Grove in order to offset your carbon emissions.

To do so, use the following formula: 1 tree fixes 0.25-0.5 tonne of carbon (CO2). So 2-4 trees = 1 tonne fixed.

(Learn more about this formula by clicking here)

3– Finally, go to the Scientists Grove page here and add the required number of trees to offset your carbon emissions. It is only £6 per tree!

If you feel 2-4 trees per tonne of carbon emitted stretches your finances too much, please contribute less. Alternatively, if you have spare funds, please contribute more. What’s essential is to contribute something, whatever you can afford.

Trees are planted in batches in Spring and Autumn. The “Grove” refers to the trees you contribute rather than a specific physical grove on a hillside. However, all trees will be planted in the Scottish Highlands either in Glen Affric (a picture of which is shown on our website front page) or in Trees For Life’s Dundreggan Estate. TfL runs a volunteers programme and some of your trees will be planted by volunteers, but also by professionals.
