A ROARING START
Since we launched mid October, we have raised enough funds to plant ~500 trees and have created 3 groves, one targeting Scientists (the “Scientists Grove”), one for friends (“Friends of All Things Small and Green grove”) and one for the wider academic communities (the “Academics Grove”). These groves provide a simple way for members of these communities and groups to offset their carbon emissions when travelling professionally or for leisure: just add trees to the groves! These are “their” groves and we hope members of these communities and groups will take ownership of them, to grow them into beautiful, biodiverse, native forests. And by so doing, removing a considerable amount of carbon from the atmosphere, leaving the planet in better health, and contributing to the fight against global warming.
MORE GROVES
We are now seeking to expand this concept of groves and hope to find champions for each of them. Our aim is to create more groves targeting companies, institutions, organisations, or, more generally, groupings and find champions within these who can drum up support, increase awareness of the harm done by carbon emissions, and encourage members of their communities or groups to offset these emissions through native afforestation. Expect more groves eventually appearing in our website! Also, please, if you are interested in creating a grove for a community you feel would be interested in contributing, then, please let me know (use the email below).
THE RESOURCE CATALOGUE
We have also heard from Amazon Affiliates that our application has been approved. This required a number of purchases to be made through our resource catalogue and this threshold has been reached. So we can now use the resource catalogue more extensively. And each time you do this, a small sum will go to our charity to plant more trees (to no cost to you). So well worth doing!
