We have launched a campaign to persuade research funders to cover costs of carbon offsettting. We would like to suggest the following:
1- All funders to authorise that costs of carbon offset can be claimed on current and future grants.
2- For all new grants, the obligation to include carbon offset costs in travel budgets.
3- For current grants, the provision of a supplement to offset carbon emissions.
4- A list of funder-accredited and easily-verifiable carbon offset organisations that grant holders could go to.
5- A policy encouraging reduction of travels by all grant holders and an obligation (or at least a strong recommendation) to offset whenever travelling is needed.
