As part of our long-term plan, we are seeking major donations and legacies. These will be used to amplify our efforts for the restoration of natural forest habitats and climate change mitigation through reforestation. Our long-term goal is to create a model for reforestation which will be both commercially and environmentally self-sustainable. One issue with the politics of reforestation at the moment is that there appears to be an irreconcilable cleavage between commercial and ecological reforestation viewpoints. We don’t think this is healthy. Our view is that divorcing the two, the commercial and the ecological, leads to conflicts that slow down our efforts to mitigate climate change through reforestation. Instead, we propose an approach that reconciles the two, whereby smaller scale cleverly-designed commercial reforestation sustains larger-scale native forest restoration. Also, we need to integrate other activities such as energy generation and tourism in any of our efforts. This requires considerable financial means, only achievable through large donations.
