Projects Sponsored by All Things Small and Green

To help you offset your carbon emissions, we have set up nine groves with Trees For Life (registered Scottish charity SC021303), which provide you with the opportunity to add as many trees you’d like and grow them into native woodlands or forests. These nine groves are:

- “Friends of All Things Small and Green Grove”. This grove is for anyone who would like to offset their carbon emissions by planting native trees. Click here to do so.

- “All Things Small and Green – The Scientists Grove”. This grove is to help scientists offset their carbon emission while travelling professionally. Click here to learn more.

- “All Things Small and Green – The Academics Grove. This grove is to help all academics, whatever their “specialty”, offset their carbon emissions while travelling professionally. Click here to learn more.

- We have set up our first “Conference Grove” called “The BPE 2021 Grove“. This grove is for participants of the Bacterial Protein Export 2020 conference to offset their carbon emissions caused by traveling to the conference which will take place in Leuven at the end of September.

- We have helped the Cognitive Science Society set up its own grove (click here) where members of the society can plant native trees in order to offset their carbon emissions. This grove also doubles up as a  conference grove for the annual society conference which, this year, will take place online. Read more here.

- We have also helped the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) create its own grove (click here) where the society and its members can offset their carbon emissions incurred during ISCB activities.

- While most of our groves are set up in the Scottish Highlands by Trees For Life, we are seeking partnerships with other tree-planting organisations in Europe so that researchers, scientists, and academics in these countries can offset their carbon emissions by having trees planted closer to home. For example, we have set up our first grove in France (click here to learn more) and are seeking to do the same in Spain and Germany.

- University College London, a major world-class university, has asked us to set up the UCL grove. Also set up in partnership with Trees For Life, this grove provides a means for UCL staff and students to offset their carbon emissions by restoring native forested habitats and create new native woodlands.

- And finally, we have just set up the ISMB grove, the grove of the Institute of Structural and Molecular Biology at UCL and Birkbeck. Through the ISMB grove, members of the ISMB can offset their carbon emissions orginating from travel or other activities.
